The INFJ Door Slam

If you haven’t heard of the INFJ door slam, you are probably not alone. The INFJ personality type is one of the rarest. I’ve seen several statistics on it, but most say somewhere between 3 and 10% is an INFJ, so we are a rare type.

The INFJ is one of sixteen personality types using the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator. The letters mean Introvert or energized by quiet time alone. Intuitive or focused on ideas and concepts vs. facts and details. Feeling or uses feelings and emotions in making decisions. Judging or prefers structure and order over spontaneity.

The door slam is something an INFJ will do when they have had enough. Being a sensitive and super caring person, an INFJ will forgive and forgive and forgive. We will allow mistreatment and overlook it for a long period of time. We see the good in people, or at the very least, we see the pain inside of them, which makes them mistreat others.

Once we are done, though, we are done. As in, you no longer exist to us. You are cut completely out of the life of an INFJ, and we won’t look back. We won’t regret it. The feeling we had for you in our hearts is now gone.

I have used the door slam a few times in my life. My ex-husband is a great example. I slammed that door, never to reopen it again. He was left confused, hurt, and still regrets every mean and horrible thing he ever did to me. As…
